Downing's General Store Opens
Louis & Tom Downing open the original Downing’s General Store at 1030 Gurnee Ave in Anniston, AL.
2007
Lewis Downing starts at the store
Lewis Downing starts work at the job that will grow into the 3rd generation of Downing’s operating the family store.
2022
Garden Center Expansion
The Seed Store expands to neighboring building to create a larger space for the garden center side of the business.
1987
Robert Downing Returns
Robert Downing comes back to Anniston from his travels to take the helm as the 2nd generation of Downing’s.
2013
50th Anniversary
Store celebrates 50th Anniversary and officially becomes known as Downing & Sons.
